19th WVO Conference & International Vegan Festival Brings the Global Vegan Movement to Palembang

Palembang, Indonesia – May 24, 2026 — The World Vegan Organisation (WVO), together with the Indonesia Vegetarian Society (IVS), Vegan Society of Indonesia (VSI), and local partners, successfully held the 19th WVO Conference & International Vegan Festival from 21–24 May 2026 at Palembang Icon Mall, Palembang, Indonesia. The event marked an important milestone for the vegan movement in South Sumatra and brought an international vegan gathering to Palembang.

For four days, the festival transformed Palembang Icon into a vibrant meeting point for vegan communities, health and sustainability advocates, entrepreneurs, families, and members of the public. Visitors experienced a diverse range of plant-based culinary offerings, health seminars and talk shows, community activities, performances, and educational programmes, making vegan living accessible, enjoyable, and relevant to people from different backgrounds.

The event also attracted participants from different regions of Indonesia and overseas, strengthening connections between communities and organisations while creating new opportunities for collaboration around healthier and more sustainable lifestyles. Local media highlighted the conference as an international platform that brought together communities, businesses, and other stakeholders around a shared vision for a healthier and more sustainable future.

A strong local ecosystem helped make the event possible. Palembang Icon, community organisations, schools and supporters—including Maitreyawira School Palembang—contributed to bringing vegan education and plant-based living closer to the wider public. BRI Region 4 Palembang also supported the festival and provided digital payment facilities through BRImo for visitors and participating businesses.

Beyond food, the 19th WVO Conference reaffirmed WVO's broader mission: connecting people across countries, cultures and communities to promote veganism for the benefit of people, animals and the planet, while encouraging compassion, sustainability and harmony among all living beings.

The Palembang gathering once again demonstrated that veganism is more than a dietary choice—it is a growing global movement capable of bringing communities together and inspiring positive change.

One World. One Family. A more compassionate future for all.
