After 74 years since Donald Watson coined the term vegan in 1944 when he co-founded the Vegan Society in England, vegan leaders from various countries and backgrounds, gathered in Taiwan on November 2017, and ultimately all agreed to unite all Vegan movements within a single organization, later named WVO (World Vegan Organization).
The ‘World Vegan Organization’(WVO) officially declared on 1 January 2018. WVO was established with the aim of being a forum for communication and cooperation among vegan organizations in the world.
Two important figures behind the establishment of WVO, are: Dr. Susianto Tseng (founder), who also serves as Former President of IVU (International Vegetarian Union), former Head of IVS (Indonesia Vegetarian Society) and current President of VSI (Vegan Society of Indonesia), and Dr. Karunas Zhu (co-founder) who also serves as President of Taiwan Vegan Association (TVA). Henceforth, Dr. Susianto Tseng and Dr. Karunas Zhu will run the organization and lead the world is vegan movement.
